At Google’s annual developer conference, Google I/O, a flurry of announcements centered around Gemini AI showcased the tech giant’s innovation across its DeepMind Labs. While unveiling various features for Gemini, such as Google Search integration, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and the Gemini app, Google reserved the reveal of Android 15 for later.
Google announced plans to discuss updates related to the new Android 15 beta, hinting at the likely release of Beta 2 following the announcement. Traditionally, Google unveils its latest Android Beta shortly after the main keynote, but this year, the focus was on AI integration across Google platforms.
Though Android was mentioned, the emphasis remained on AI, with highlights on updates to the Gemini personal assistant app and the future of Gemini Nano’s expanding on-device capabilities.
Notably, the Android 15 journey began with the Developer Preview program in February, with the first beta released in March. While the beta offered a glimpse into Android 15’s new features, the core aspects will be unveiled with the official launch happening tomorrow.
Expected Android 15 features include an edge-to-edge app experience, smoother NFC transactions, precise screen sharing, expanded connectivity, improved camera controls, universal keyboard vibration control, privacy protection, simplified Bluetooth management, enhanced audio sharing, high-quality webcams (for Pixel devices), taskbar customization, app archiving, and Braille display accessibility for visually impaired users.
Google’s focus on AI and the anticipation surrounding Android 15’s beta release add excitement to this year’s Google I/O conference.
