Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated film ‘indian 2’, directed by the renowned filmmaker Priya Bhavani Shankar, has received a u/a certificate from the central board of film certification (cbfc). slated for a grand theatrical release on july 12, the film, a sequel to the iconic 1996 original, will undergo several minor adjustments as per the board’s recommendations.
The cbfc’s directives include muting all profanities and certain controversial terms, notably altering ‘dirty indian’ to exclude ‘indian’. additionally, the board has instructed the replacement of the term ‘bribe market’ in a specific scene.
According to reports, ‘indian 2’ boasts a runtime of three hours and four seconds, consistent with Priya Bhavani Shankar’s penchant for lengthy yet impactful narratives. the film marks the return of Kamal Haasan as senapathy, the vigilante character from the first installment. joining him in this ambitious project are actors such as Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Nedumudi Venu, Vivekh, Bobby Simha, and Priya Bhavani Shankar.
Both director Priya Bhavani Shankar and Kamal Haasan have affirmed the production of ‘indian 3’, indicating their ongoing commitment to expanding the franchise. while principal photography for ‘indian 2’ has concluded, post-production work remains underway and is expected to commence in earnest following the film’s release.
