The jury for Donald Trump’s hush money trial has been finalized with 12 members, comprising seven men and five women, along with one female alternate. After the completion of jury selection, Donald Trump’s hush money trial moved swiftly on its third day. Challenges raised by Trump’s attorneys regarding jurors’ negative opinions about the former president were rejected by the judge, leading to the finalization of the jury comprising seven men and five women, along with one alternate.
Despite some jurors expressing unfavorable views towards Trump, they asserted their ability to remain impartial. One juror described Trump as selfish and self-serving, stating she disliked his persona but would remain fair in her judgment.
The court session encountered minor setbacks, including a juror requesting dismissal due to concerns about the disclosure of personal information and another being excused over questions regarding truthfulness in previous responses.
Trump’s attorney requested information on the first three witnesses planned by the district attorney’s office, but their request was denied due to Trump’s social media posts about potential witnesses.
The trial remains on track to commence opening arguments on Monday, with 22 prospective jurors yet to undergo the questionnaire process. The judge aims to finalize five additional alternate jurors, with the possibility of adjustments. Additionally, a Sandoval hearing is scheduled to discuss the admissibility of Trump’s legal history if he chooses to testify.
As Donald Trump’s hush money trial progresses, the jury is now in place, despite challenges from the defense regarding jurors’ opinions about the former president. Allegations of Trump violating the gag order add further complexity to the trial, which is set to proceed with opening arguments next week.
