Tokyo, 28 Aug : Japan again aborted its Moon Mission on Monday, due to bad weather conditions. The mission was deferred barely 27 minutes before the scheduled time of the launch. The next date of launch has not been announced as yet.
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) most reliable heavy payload rocket was to carry a lightweight lander to the Moon. Japan had named it Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM). According to JAXA, the spacecraft would have landed on the Moon in January. The launch was postponed due to inclement weather. The launch was planned for Saturday and deferred due to high-velocity wind and again on Sunday and Monday on the same grounds.
The operator Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has not announced a fresh date for launching. Japan will be the fifth nation after India to land on the Moon if it succeeds.
