In a significant incident reported by Israeli Police, an attack occurred on Highway 1 from Ma’ale Adumim towards Jerusalem, marking a disturbing escalation in violence.
According to authorities, gunfire erupted on the highway, believed to be initiated by unknown assailants, resulting in eight individuals sustaining injuries.
Describing the perpetrators as terrorists, the Israeli police, through their official Twitter account, provided details of the harrowing event. Three terrorists arrived in a vehicle and swiftly disembarked, unleashing a hail of gunfire from automatic weapons upon vehicles caught in a traffic jam en-route to Jerusalem.
The police statement read: “Shooting terror attack on Highway 1 from Ma’ale Adumim towards Jerusalem – 3 terrorists who arrived in a vehicle, left the vehicle and started shooting using automatic weapons, towards vehicles standing in a traffic jam on the road towards Jerusalem.”
It added, Prompt intervention by security forces led to the neutralization of two assailants on the spot, while the pursuit of another terrorist who attempted to flee resulted in their eventual neutralization.
Notably, all victims, suffering from varying degrees of injury, were swiftly evacuated to receive urgent medical treatment.
Moreover, in response to the unfolding situation, the commander of the Shi District, Uzi Levy, arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough situation assessment. Additionally, Israel police commander, Kobi Shabtay, is en route to the scene to oversee operations and provide necessary support.
