The Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers is set to convene on February 24, 2024, focusing on the critical theme of “Disinformation and Hostilities Against Journalists and Media Outlets in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”
Hosted by the Directorate and honored by the participation of information ministers and heads of communication and media institutions from Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries, the session will shed light on Israel’s aggression against journalists in the occupied Palestinian territory since October 7. The meeting will also delve into Israel’s disinformation efforts targeting global public opinion.
Inaugurated by the Presidency’s Director of Communications, holding the OIC Information Ministers Term Presidency, and OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, the session will address the grave assaults perpetrated by the Israeli administration, resulting in the loss of 130 journalists alongside civilians in Gaza. Additionally, the dissemination of misleading and fabricated news by Israel will be thoroughly examined.
The meeting marks a historic milestone as the first extraordinary gathering held on a sectoral basis within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. At its conclusion, the final declaration, endorsed by all participating nations, will be made accessible to the public.
