Media reports have surfaced regarding the tragic murder of Paruchuri Abhijit, a 20-year-old student hailing from Burripalem in the district of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, in the United States.
According to authorities in Massachusetts, Abhijit’s body was discovered in a car located in a forest. The young engineering student, enrolled at Boston University, was allegedly killed by unidentified assailants.
Abhijit, who had joined Boston University in 2023, resided with his classmates in a rented house. Concerns arose when he failed to return home after classes on March 11, prompting his friends to notify the police and file a missing person report.
Police were able to track Abhijit’s mobile signals, leading to the discovery of his deceased body in a car within close proximity to the forest. Reports suggest that he was killed on the same day he went missing. Following necessary formalities in the US, Abhijit’s mortal remains were repatriated to Burripalem in the Guntur district.
While initial reports speculate that the motive behind Abhijit’s murder may have been robbery, with assailants targeting money and his laptop, further investigation is underway to uncover more details. This unfortunate incident adds to the growing concern over crimes against Indians in the US, with a surge in similar cases reported in 2024.
