Congress MP Supriya Sule, leading an all-party Indian delegation in South Africa, expressed the deep emotional impact of the Pahalgam terror attack on Indians worldwide and stressed the importance of taking Operation Sindoor to the global stage. Speaking in Johannesburg, she highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision of peace in the region, the devastating effects of terrorism on innocent lives, and India’s resolve to stand firm against terrorism. The delegation underscored India’s zero-tolerance policy towards cross-border terrorism and emphasized the need for international cooperation to dismantle terrorist networks.
Operation Sindoor: A Message Beyond Borders
During her interaction with the Indian community in Johannesburg, Supriya Sule recalled Prime Minister Modi’s 2014 oath ceremony, where he invited neighboring countries to promote peace and unity in South Asia. However, she lamented that the recent Pahalgam attack shattered these hopes, causing pain and fear among Indians globally. Sule stressed that Operation Sindoor was not merely a military response but a necessary and symbolic act to uphold India’s dignity and send a clear message that terrorism would not be tolerated. She emphasized Modi’s wish that this operation be recognized worldwide, reflecting India’s commitment to peace without sacrificing innocent lives.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur, part of the delegation, highlighted Pakistan’s failure to act after the Pahalgam attack and praised the Indian armed forces’ swift retaliation, which targeted nine terror sites. He condemned Pakistan’s continued support for terrorist groups and emphasized the brutality of the Pahalgam attack, where victims were targeted based on religion in front of their families. Thakur reiterated that terrorism, largely sponsored by Pakistan, is a global threat that must be confronted.
Unity Against Terrorism and Global Outreach
Congress MP Manish Tewari described terrorism as a “pure evil” that has no religion or justification and called for its eradication worldwide. He explained India’s efforts to build a global consensus against countries that use terrorism as state policy. Tewari reaffirmed India’s commitment to peaceful neighborhood relations while firmly opposing terrorism, which has been sponsored by Pakistan for decades.
The all-party Indian delegation, including prominent MPs and former ministers, began their South Africa engagement by meeting with the Indian community and planning discussions with South African government officials. They reiterated India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism and emphasized that Operation Sindoor was a precise and measured response aimed at combating terrorism without escalating conflict. The delegation urged international partners to stop differentiating between terrorists and their supporters and to work collectively to dismantle the networks threatening India’s security.
On Wednesday, the delegation planned to continue their outreach in Cape Town with meetings in the South African Parliament and government ministries, furthering the dialogue on global cooperation against terrorism.
