Indian-American Kashyap “Kash” Patel, nominated by US President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the next Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director, joined the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday. KashPatel’s first post, simply stating, “Hello X,” has already garnered significant attention, amassing over seven million views and receiving more than 24,000 comments.
KashPatel’s decision to join X comes as his nomination to head the FBI continues to attract attention. The 44-year-old, known for his strong criticism of the FBI, has gained a significant following on the platform, with over 300,000 people following him within hours of his arrival on X.
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and owner of X, congratulated KashPatel on his nomination to lead the FBI. Musk, who has been named Trump’s government efficiency chief in the incoming administration, expressed his support publicly, showing an ongoing alignment with KashPatel’s views.
KashPatel, who was born in New York in 1980 to parents of Gujarati descent who emigrated from East Africa, has had a varied and impactful career. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Richmond, he earned a law degree and a certificate in International Law from the University College London Faculty of Laws in the UK. KashPatel began his professional journey as a public defender in Florida, representing clients in both state and federal courts.
He later transitioned to the Department of Justice, where he served as a prosecutor, handling high-profile international terrorism cases in both East Africa and the United States. KashPatel has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, frequently appearing on the campaign trail to rally support for the former president’s bid against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
During Trump’s first term, KashPatel held advisory roles to both the Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defense, further cementing his reputation as a staunch ally of Trump. His nomination as FBI Director has raised significant interest, as he is known for his critical stance on the FBI and its operations. KashPatel’s growing presence on X reflects the ongoing political and social dynamics surrounding his nomination, signaling his increasing role in shaping the discourse ahead of the upcoming administration.
