US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti highlighted the robust and expanding relationship between India and the United States, describing it as not merely additive but “multiplicative”. He emphasized that the bilateral ties have never been stronger, noting the significant contributions of the Indian-American community to the US economy.
Speaking at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, Eric Garcetti praised the deepening economic cooperation between the two nations. He highlighted JSW Steel’s announcement of a USD 140 million investment in Baytown, Texas, underscoring India’s role as a major investor in the US. This investment is expected to create over 800 jobs for American workers.
Eric Garcetti also emphasized the growing familiarity of Americans with Indian brands and companies, pointing to collaborative efforts in infrastructure, energy, and climate solutions. He celebrated the two-way investment flow between India and the US, citing examples from steel manufacturing to renewable energy initiatives.
Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade, Diane Farrell, noted India’s significant presence at the summit, marking it as the largest country delegation. Divyakumar Bhair from JSW Steel USA highlighted the investment’s focus on manufacturing high-end steel plates crucial for clean energy projects in the US, stressing its potential to boost local economies in Texas.
