New Delhi, 31 August: On the Ukraine conflict, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said today that India is not neutral in this global event but is in favour of peace. This conflict has increased the prices of oil and grains around the world. No country in the world is supporting the struggle. It means that India stands on the side of peace with those countries.

Jaishankar was addressing a programme at the Hindu College of Delhi University.

In the global context, the External Affairs Minister said that 2023 would be remembered by all as a year when India, under its G20 chairmanship, carved a niche on the world map. We are changing the way the world thinks about energy through the Solar Alliance. Efforts are being made to change eating habits through the International Year of Millets. Building a collective response to disasters through alliances Today, India is being seen as a country that is driving global progress.

On the possibility of change in the United Nations Security Council, the Foreign Minister said that it will happen. He said that the United Nations was formed at a time when it had only 50 members. Today, it has about 200 members. In such a situation, the countries that were running the world at that time will no longer be able to do so. He said that there is not a single permanent member from Africa or Latin America in the structure of the Security Council. The people who were in power at that time are not ready to stand up now. Although it is not in their interest either, India is the country with the largest population in the world. It is the fifth-largest economy. He said that recently, BRICS has also supported changes in them.
