In a strong diplomatic outreach, senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor led a multi-party delegation to Guyana and issued a clear message to the international community: India will not tolerate terrorism and those responsible—whether perpetrators, financiers, or facilitators—will face consequences. Emphasizing India’s firm resolve following repeated terror attacks, Shashi Tharoor said the country is now operating with a “new normal” where responses will be decisive and unforgiving. The delegation is also actively informing global leaders about Operation Sindoor—India’s latest counterterrorism strike targeting terror bases across the border.
India’s message of zero tolerance
Speaking in Georgetown on Sunday, Shashi Tharoor declared that India would no longer allow any entity to kill its civilians and escape unpunished. “Our message is very clear. We have to stand against terrorism wherever it comes. We not only need to bring the killers to justice, but also confront those who are training, financing and directing them,” he said. Tharoor’s remarks reflected the sentiment that India, after four decades of bearing the brunt of terror attacks, has reached a point of unwavering determination. He stated that India would never again allow hostile forces to “just walk across the border” and kill civilians with impunity.
Addressing the Indian diaspora in Guyana, Shashi Tharoor appealed for collective support in reinforcing India’s position on terrorism, particularly against actors based in Pakistan. “We are asking all of you to join us in expressing strength and resolve. If such actions occur again, we must respond as one,” he added.
Delegation highlights Operation Sindoor and India’s tough stance
The delegation accompanying Shashi Tharoor includes MPs from various parties, including Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayagi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejaswi Surya, Bhubaneswar K Lata (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), and former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Together, they are highlighting India’s security operations and diplomatic stance to regional leaders and the international audience.
The team briefed Guyanese leadership, including Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo and Prime Minister Mark Phillips, about India’s recent counterterrorism drive—Operation Sindoor. Under this operation, India destroyed nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, while also thwarting retaliatory attacks aimed at civilians and infrastructure. The delegation also discussed the Pahalgam incident and reaffirmed India’s firm stand on the Indus Waters Treaty, reiterating a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism.
In response, Guyana’s top leaders reiterated their unwavering support for India’s efforts, aligning with New Delhi’s vision of a global campaign against terror.
