India aims to host 2036 Olympics, says PM Narendra Modi in New York | CliqExplainer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address to the Indian diaspora in New York, expressed India’s determination to host the 2036 Olympics. Speaking at the “PM Narendra Modi and US” event at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum, he emphasized that development in India is transforming into a “people’s movement.” PM Narendra Modi remarked, “Bharat today is a land of opportunities. Bharat doesn’t wait for opportunities; it creates opportunities.” He highlighted that in the last decade, 25 crore people have risen out of poverty, showcasing the nation’s progress.

The Prime Minister conveyed optimism about India’s potential to host the Olympics, stating, “Only a few days ago, the Paris Olympics concluded. Very soon, you will witness the Olympics in India too. We are putting in all possible efforts to host the 2036 Olympics.” His remarks followed a vibrant cultural event, reflecting the enthusiasm of the Indian community in the United States.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also discussed India’s aspirations to excel in sports, aiming for a top-10 finish in the medals tally for the 2036 Olympics. He mentioned the initiative “Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect,” highlighting the need for significant focus on the sports sector. The minister stated that by 2047, the goal is to position India among the top five sports nations, underlining the importance of developing world-class athletes.

India’s performance at the recently concluded Paris Olympics, where the country secured six medals, including five bronze and a silver, was a point of pride for PM Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister’s ambitious vision for sports in India aligns with broader national goals, aiming for progress and recognition on the global stage. As the country gears up for the future, the aspiration to host the 2036 Olympics symbolizes a commitment to excellence and growth in every sector.
