The ongoing third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia at the Gabba is witnessing some remarkable individual performances. While the series is tied 1-1, with both teams battling hard, India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a game-changer, leaving a significant mark in Australia. In a standout performance, Bumrah has not only broken a long-standing record held by legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev but also become the fastest Indian bowler to take the most Test wickets in Australia.

During the second innings of the third Test match, Bumrah’s brilliant bowling effort brought India back into the game. With the wicket of Australian batter Usman Khawaja, Bumrah surpassed Kapil Dev’s record of 51 wickets, setting a new benchmark for the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in Australia. This achievement is a testament to Bumrah’s exceptional skill and his ability to deliver in challenging conditions.

Bumrah’s performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has added great strength to India’s bowling attack. By the time the third Test match concludes, he has taken 20 wickets in the series, with an impressive average of 10.90. His efforts have been crucial in keeping India competitive in this tough series, especially as other bowlers struggled at times. In the first innings of the Gabba Test, when other Indian bowlers were finding it difficult to break through, Bumrah delivered a stunning spell, taking 6 wickets and putting Australia on the backfoot. His performance in the second innings was no less remarkable, as he claimed 3 more wickets, helping India push Australia to the brink of defeat.

Bumrah’s exceptional bowling has not only shattered records but also proven to be a key turning point in the game. His performance has been a vital factor in India’s chances of dominating the series, showcasing his consistent excellence in international cricket.
