Highlights
  • Monsoon to hit Kerala in 5 days, bringing relief.
  • Heat wave warnings issued; severe conditions in multiple regions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced the imminent arrival of the monsoon in Kerala within the next 5 days, bringing hope for relief from the relentless summer heat. Anticipation grows as the monsoon is poised to spread into various regions, including the South Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin area, Lakshadweep, and Kerala, as well as parts of the Bay of Bengal and Northeastern states.

According to IMD’s weather forecast for the upcoming week, widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim from May 27 to May 31. Additionally, isolated to scattered rainfall is predicted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Karnataka on May 27.

While Gujarat braces for strong surface winds on May 27 and 28, Uttarakhand is likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds from May 27 to May 31. Similar weather conditions are anticipated over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on May 30 and 31. Notably, the IMD foresees the onset of the monsoon in Mumbai around June 10-11.

However, amidst the anticipation of rainfall, the IMD has issued heat wave warnings for several regions. Rajasthan is expected to witness widespread severe heat wave conditions from May 27 to 29, gradually subsiding thereafter. Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh, along with West Madhya Pradesh, are likely to experience severe heat wave conditions during the same period. The Western Himalayan Region, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are also expected to reel under heat wave conditions for the next three days.

As temperatures soar and heat wave conditions persist, it is crucial for individuals to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health. Some of the precautionary measures include staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours, wearing light clothing, seeking shade whenever possible, and consuming light and cool food. Additionally, incorporating Dabur Chyawanprash into your daily diet can offer added protection against impending heat waves. Amla, a key ingredient, is particularly beneficial during summers due to its cooling properties, aiding in digestion and maintaining stomach & overall health.

As the nation eagerly awaits the arrival of the monsoon, citizens are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and heed advisories issued by authorities to ensure their safety and well-being.
