In a troubling case of alleged medical negligence, a seven-year-old boy in Greater Noida underwent surgery on the wrong eye at Anand Spectrum Hospital in Sector Gamma 1. The boy, Yudhisthir, was initially scheduled for an operation on his left eye, which had been watering frequently, causing his parents concern. The incident occurred on November 12 when Dr. Anand Verma mistakenly operated on Yudhisthir’s right eye instead.

The boy’s father, Nitin Bhati, explained that the family had taken Yudhisthir to the hospital after noticing persistent watering in his left eye. Following a medical examination, Dr. Anand Verma informed them of the presence of a “plastic-like object” in the boy’s left eye, advising surgery to address the issue. The family agreed to the procedure, which was priced at ₹45,000.

However, upon returning home after the operation, Yudhisthir’s mother observed that the surgery had been conducted on his right eye instead of the affected left eye. Shocked and distressed by the error, the parents confronted Dr. Anand Verma and his medical staff. According to the police, the doctor and hospital staff reportedly responded dismissively, allegedly misbehaving with the family rather than addressing their concerns.

Upset by the handling of the situation, the family created a scene at the hospital and later filed a formal complaint with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar. In his complaint, Nitin Bhati has demanded that the authorities take strict action, calling for the cancellation of Dr. Anand Verma’s medical license and requesting that Anand Verma Spectrum Hospital be sealed to prevent further incidents of negligence.

Local authorities have taken the complaint seriously, launching an investigation into the incident. A police spokesperson confirmed that a thorough inquiry is underway and that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings. The case has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for improved oversight of medical practices to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The family’s demand for justice comes amid heightened public concern about patient safety and accountability in medical institutions. As the investigation unfolds, this case is expected to prompt further scrutiny of medical protocols and operational standards in hospitals across the region, raising broader questions about the responsibilities of healthcare providers toward their patients.
