In a heartwarming turn of events, two senior citizens who had gone missing from their homes were successfully reunited with their families, thanks to the efforts of an NGO in Maharashtra and the power of Google search.
The first case involved 70-year-old Mavjibhai Vaghri, who suffers from a mental health condition. Vaghri, originally from a locality near Vadodara in Gujarat, went missing and was found in Nallasopara, Palghar district, on September 14. He was admitted to an ashram operated by Jeevan Anand Sanstha, a non-governmental organization dedicated to rehabilitating underprivileged individuals.
Upon his arrival at the ashram, Vaghri was able to provide the name of his locality. The dedicated staff at Jeevan Anand Sanstha took immediate action by utilizing Google search to find local authorities in the area where Vaghri had been found. They contacted the local police and were able to trace Vaghri’s family. His relatives were located and Vaghri was joyfully reunited with them the very next day, September 15.
In another case, Jeevan Anand Sanstha also played a crucial role in locating the family of Padi Goma Bhukre, a 70-year-old tribal woman who had gone missing from Panvel, Navi Mumbai. Bhukre had accidentally boarded a bus bound for Mumbai and subsequently suffered injuries in an accident. Following her treatment, she was brought to the ashram on the night of September 14 for temporary shelter.
The organization faced the challenge of tracking down Bhukre’s family, but their efforts were aided by Google search once again. By searching for contact information related to the sarpanch of Bhukre’s village, the NGO managed to inform her family about her whereabouts. Bhukre’s family was able to reunite with her after her ordeal.
Both Vaghri and Bhukre had been reported missing by their families, and their photos, which were circulated on WhatsApp, also played a significant role in their identification and safe return.
These incidents highlight the impactful role that technology and community organizations can play in solving critical issues, such as locating and reuniting missing individuals with their loved ones. The use of Google search by Jeevan Anand Sanstha underscores how modern tools can be effectively employed to provide solutions in humanitarian efforts.
