Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump addressed recent remarks made by Indian American and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, stating that while he appreciates her support, he will continue with his own campaign strategy. Speaking to reporters at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday, Former US President Donald Trump acknowledged Haley’s endorsement and her influence but indicated that he has not followed her advice.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Haley suggested that Former US President Donald Trump should shift his focus away from criticizing his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and instead concentrate on policy issues. “You can’t win on those things. American people are smart. Treat them like they’re smart. It’s not about her. It’s about the American people. Talk to them and let them know you need their vote,” Haley had advised.
Responding to Haley’s comments, Former US President Donald Trump emphasized his campaign approach. “I think I’m doing a very calm campaign. I mean, we’re here. There’s no shouting. Now you’ll say he ranted and raved, …. I’m a very calm person. Believe it or not. If I wasn’t, I probably wouldn’t be around anymore. I appreciate her advice but I have to do it my way,” Former US President Donald Trump said.
Former US President Donald Trump also reflected on his previous political contests, noting his significant victories. “I fought Nikki very hard. I beat her in her own state by legendary numbers. I get along with her fine. I appreciate that she endorsed me,” Former US President Donald Trump remarked. He reiterated his belief in his campaign strategy, citing his substantial win in South Carolina as evidence of his successful approach.
The former president concluded by expressing respect for Haley, acknowledging her support while affirming his commitment to his own methods. “I think she’s a good woman. I’d love to have her support. She gave me support,” Former US President Donald Trump added.
