Former President Donald Trump revealed that he received a “very nice call” from Vice President Kamala Harris following an attempted assassination at his golf club in Florida. Former President Donald Trump made this disclosure during a Fox News town hall hosted by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday night. The call from Kamala Harris came shortly after President Joe Biden had spoken to Former President Donald Trump about the incident, offering his support and discussing Secret Service protection.
Former President Donald Trump detailed the conversations he had with both Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. “President Joe Biden called me yesterday. He was very nice… a nice conversation. I appreciate that he called,” Former President Donald Trump said during the town hall. He further shared that Kamala Harris also reached out to him, stating, “I got a very nice call from Kamala… It was very and we appreciated that.”
The White House described Kamala Harris’s call as a “cordial and brief conversation,” noting that the Vice President contacted Former President Donald Trump directly to express her relief that he was safe. In a subsequent interview in Philadelphia, Kamala Harris confirmed the call and emphasized that she had checked on Former President Donald Trump’s well-being and reaffirmed her public stance against political violence. “There is no place for political violence in our country,” she stated. Kamala Harris also noted her commitment to the democratic process and the election race.
This assassination attempt marked the second time in two months that Former President Donald Trump faced such a threat. Previously, a bullet grazed his ear during a rally in Pennsylvania, leading to a significant moment in his campaign. Following that incident, President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid.
The recent attack took place on Sunday when a Secret Service agent at Former President Donald Trump’s Florida golf course spotted a suspect armed with an AK-47-style rifle. The agent, noticing the threat, fired at the suspect, Ryan Routh, who had been aiming the weapon at Former President Donald Trump. The intervention by the Secret Service agent effectively prevented the suspect from taking any further action. Routh, 58, was apprehended shortly after the incident.
Former President Donald Trump’s remarks and the supportive gestures from Kamala Harris and Joe Biden highlight the ongoing tensions and security concerns surrounding the former president’s campaign. Despite the challenges, Former President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to his campaign message, asserting, “We have to take back our country. We have to win. We are going to win. We are going to make America great again.” The recent events underscore the heightened security measures and the political climate as Former President Donald Trump continues his bid for the presidency.
