  • Bhuvaneswari submits Naidu's nomination, signaling continued political engagement.
  • Asset surge amid legal challenges sets stage for electoral contest.

The latest poll affidavit has unveiled a notable financial trajectory for former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) stalwart, N Chandrababu Naidu, and his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari, indicating a substantial 39% escalation in their combined assets over the past five years. According to the affidavit, their collective assets have soared from Rs 668 crore in 2019 to a staggering Rs 931 crore presently.

The surge in assets primarily stems from Bhuvaneswari’s significant holdings in various companies, notably Heritage Foods and Nirvana Holdings, among others. Their real estate holdings span across Hyderabad, Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, reflecting a diversified portfolio.

However, amid this financial growth, Naidu finds himself entangled in 24 criminal cases, including allegations related to the Amaravati land scam, fibernet scam, and skill development scam.

In a clear indication of their continued involvement in politics, Bhuvaneswari has submitted her husband’s nomination from the Kuppam Assembly constituency, underscoring their commitment to public service.

In the previous 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls, Naidu emerged victorious from the Kuppam seat, securing 1,00,146 votes, while the YSRCP’s Krishna Chandra Mouli trailed with 69,424 votes.

Recently, Naidu made electoral promises, vowing to deliver higher quality alcohol at reduced prices if the TDP were to form the government in the upcoming simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls on May 13.

Ahead of the elections, a seat-sharing agreement has been finalized between the BJP-TDP-Jana Sena Party for Andhra Pradesh. The BJP is slated to contest six Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats, while the TDP has been allocated 17 Lok Sabha and 144 Assembly seats. Additionally, the Jana Sena Party has been entrusted with two Lok Sabha and 21 Assembly constituencies.

This significant surge in assets, coupled with ongoing legal challenges, underscores the evolving landscape of Andhra Pradesh politics, setting the stage for a keenly contested electoral battle in the upcoming polls.
