Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, accused the Congress party of attempting to delegitimize the upcoming 2024 elections. She stated that Congress and its allies were prepared to go to any extent to undermine the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) anticipated victory.
Nirmala Sitharaman expressed concern over the Congress party’s alleged tactics, suggesting that they were aligning with various forces to discredit the election process. She highlighted the perceived animosity of Congress towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing their actions to a deep-seated resentment.
According to Nirmala Sitharaman, Congress’s behavior indicates a departure from responsible opposition politics to aligning with disruptive elements. She criticized Congress for allegedly engaging in disruptive activities and undermining democratic institutions.
The Finance Minister emphasized that attempts to discredit India’s electoral process were not merely excuses but serious offenses. She accused Congress of aligning with what she termed the ‘tukde-tukde’ gang, indicating a departure from its historical role as a freedom-fighting party.
Nirmala Sitharaman pointed out the irony of Congress’s behavior, noting that they had previously won elections through the same electoral process but were now questioning its legitimacy for the general elections.
