In a tragic incident in Nashik, Maharashtra, a 36-year-old woman named Vaishali Shinde lost her life after being struck by a speeding car on Tuesday. According to chilling CCTV footage, Shinde was flung approximately 15-20 meters into the air when a white hatchback collided with her from behind in the Gangapur area around 5 pm.
Witnesses rushed to her aid immediately after the crash, and she was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save her, Shinde succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the accident. Police have since taken two individuals into custody in connection with the incident.
This tragedy comes on the heels of another recent hit-and-run case in Mumbai’s Worli, where a speeding BMW fatally struck a couple on a two-wheeler. The incident resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman, Kaveri Nakhwa, who was returning home with her husband after shopping for groceries.
In that case, Mihir Shah, the son of politician Rajesh Shah, was behind the wheel. Following the collision, Shah allegedly dragged Nakhwa’s body for 1.5 kilometers before eventually stopping. Disturbing CCTV footage suggests Shah then switched seats with his driver, removed the woman’s body from beneath the car, and abandoned it on the road before driving away. Shah, along with his father and the driver, has been arrested by the authorities.
Earlier this year, in a separate incident in Pune, a 17-year-old minor was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed a Porsche into a two-wheeler, resulting in the deaths of two software engineers from Madhya Pradesh.
These incidents underscore the ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the repercussions of reckless driving, prompting authorities to take stringent measures to address such cases and ensure public safety.
