In a stride towards fostering inclusive growth and ensuring equitable access to education, the Government of India has launched the PM Young Achievers’ Scholarship Award Scheme for a Vibrant India (PM YASASVI), targeting students from Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Denotified Nomadic Tribes (DNT) backgrounds. This pioneering initiative aims to provide financial assistance and support to deserving students, enabling them to pursue their educational aspirations and unlock their full potential.
Under the PM YASASVI scheme, a total of Rs 32.44 Crore has been allocated for Pre-matric Scholarships and Rs 387.27 Crore for Post-Matric Scholarships to various States and Union Territories. This substantial investment underscores the government’s commitment to promoting education as a catalyst for social and economic development.
One of the key highlights of the PM YASASVI scheme is its focus on providing holistic support to students at different stages of their academic journey. From Pre-Matric Scholarships for students in classes 9 and 10 to Post-Matric Scholarships for higher education, the scheme caters to diverse educational needs. Additionally, students excelling in their studies have the opportunity to apply for scholarships under the Top Class School Education and Top Class College Education schemes, facilitating access to quality education in premier institutions.
Moreover, recognizing the importance of conducive learning environments, the PM YASASVI scheme also encompasses the construction of hostels for OBC boys and girls. This initiative aims to provide safe and comfortable accommodation to students, especially those from rural areas, thereby enabling them to access high-quality education without facing logistical challenges.
Furthermore, the scheme emphasizes inclusivity and equity by ensuring that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are not deprived of educational opportunities due to financial constraints. Through various scholarships and financial assistance programs, the PM YASASVI scheme aims to level the playing field and empower every student to pursue their dreams without any hindrance.
As the National Scholarship Portal remains open until 31st January 2024 for submitting applications under the PM YASASVI scheme, eligible students are encouraged to seize this opportunity and avail themselves of the benefits offered by this transformative initiative. By investing in education today, we are not just shaping the future of our youth but also building a stronger and more prosperous India for generations to come.
