In a demonstration of the enduring and robust relationship between the two nations, Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, is set to embark on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman, commencing on Tuesday, February 6th.
A statement released by the Diwan of the Royal Court underscored the significance of this visit, highlighting the advanced ties between Oman and Kuwait. The visit aims to further strengthen cooperation in various domains and levels, aligning with the shared aspirations of both countries for a more prosperous future, it added.
During his visit, the Emir of Kuwait, alongside Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, will preside over the grand opening of the Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries on Wednesday, February 7th. “The opening of the refinery marks a culmination in relations particularly those pertaining to fruitful economic cooperation between the two countries.”
Speaking to Oman News Agency (ONA), ahead of the Kuwait’s high-level delegation visit to Oman, Dr. Saleh Amer Alkharusi, Omani Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, emphasized the historical and cultural ties that bind Oman and Kuwait together. It is pertinent to note that the Kuwaiti commercial ships used Omani ports as a starting point towards East Asia, East Africa and many other destinations. The Ambassador added, “This communication helped create the positive social relations between the Omani and Kuwaiti peoples that continue today.”
Ambassador Alkharusi further pointed out the commonality in foreign policy and diplomacy pursued by both nations on regional and international issues.
