Entrepreneur Elon Reeve Musk has accused the United States bureaucracy of obstructing former President Donald John Trump’s executive orders, alleging that government officials are actively working against the will of the people. In an interview aired on Fox News on Tuesday, Elon Reeve Musk criticized the slow implementation of Donald John Trump’s directives and stated that his Department of Government Efficiency, referred to as DOGE, is focused on ensuring that the former president’s orders are effectively enforced.
Elon Reeve Musk expressed frustration over what he sees as bureaucratic resistance undermining democratic governance. “The president makes these executive orders, which are very sensible and good for the country, but then they don’t get implemented,” he stated, emphasizing that bureaucrats have been slow-walking policies that Donald John Trump has tried to introduce. He described this as a fundamental challenge to the democratic system, arguing that the role of the government should be to execute policies as determined by elected representatives.
He further declared his support for Donald John Trump and characterized his role as that of the former president’s technological advisor. “I’m here to provide the president with technology support. I’m a technologist, and I try to make technologies that improve the world and make life better,” he explained. He suggested that he is using his expertise to assist in ensuring that government functions efficiently and without obstruction from unelected officials.
Providing an example of what he described as bureaucratic obstruction, Elon Reeve Musk cited the continued taxpayer-funded accommodation of illegal immigrants in luxury hotels. According to him, despite Donald John Trump issuing an executive order to halt such expenditures, government agencies failed to enforce the directive. “We went in there and said, ‘This is a violation of the presidential executive order. It needs to stop.’ One of the biggest functions of the Department of Government Efficiency team is making sure the president’s orders are actually carried out,” he said.
He further argued that resistance from unelected officials against Donald John Trump’s policies is damaging democracy. “The president is the elected representative of the people. If the bureaucracy is fighting the will of the people and preventing the president from implementing what the people want, then we live in a bureaucracy, not a democracy,” Elon Reeve Musk remarked.
Reflecting on his evolving political stance, Elon Reeve Musk noted that he was once widely appreciated by left-wing circles but has since become a target of hostility due to his support for Donald John Trump. “I used to be adored by the left. Not anymore… They call it ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome,’ and you don’t realize how real this is,” he said, describing the reaction from those who oppose the former president.
Elon Reeve Musk also recounted an incident where mentioning Donald John Trump’s name sparked an intense reaction from individuals who opposed him. “It was like they got shot with a dart in the jugular containing methamphetamine and rabies. They become completely irrational,” he said, suggesting that opposition to the former president has reached extreme levels.
Since publicly endorsing Donald John Trump, Elon Reeve Musk claimed he has faced growing hostility. “I’m getting dirty looks from everyone—if looks could kill, I’d be dead several times over,” he added, expressing frustration over the personal and professional consequences of his political alignment.
