Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has issued a stark warning regarding the potential dire consequences of Israel’s escalating actions in the Gaza Strip.
During discussions with his Jordanian and Iraqi counterparts, Ayman Al-Safadi and Fuad Hussein, held on the sidelines of an Arabian foreign ministers’ meeting in Manama on Wednesday, Sameh Shoukry emphasized the negative repercussions such escalation could have on the security and stability of the entire region.
The talks revolved around Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, along with the urgent need for unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. Sameh Shoukry reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to displace Gazans or undermine the Palestinian cause.
He emphasized the imperative to cease targeting civilians, end Israeli settler violence, and ensure unhindered access to aid supplies that adequately address the needs of the Palestinian population.
Sameh Shoukry also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting the stability of Iraq and Jordan, emphasizing the importance of implementing directives from the leaders of the three nations to enhance cooperation within the tripartite mechanism framework.
Highlighting the significance of joint projects, Sameh Shoukry stressed the need for their swift implementation to maximize mutual benefits.
In a separate meeting with Iraqi Minister Fuad Hussein, Sameh Shoukry reiterated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors. Fuad Hussein echoed sentiments of close historical ties between Iraq and Egypt, underscoring the necessity for continued coordination in addressing regional challenges. He commended Egypt’s pivotal role in seeking resolution to the crisis in Gaza.
