The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted a significant raid on the farmhouse of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial irregularities at the hospital during his tenure. This latest action by the ED is a part of a broader probe into allegations of financial misconduct linked to Ghosh’s administration at the institution.

In addition to Ghosh’s farmhouse, ED officials are also searching the residence and nursing home of Dr. Sudipta Roy, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA from Sreerampur and chairman of the West Bengal Health Recruitment Board. Roy, who previously held the position of chairman of the Patients’ Welfare Association at RG Kar, had recently faced scrutiny from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a separate case involving the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the Kolkata hospital.

The latest raids by the ED come as part of a continuing investigation into alleged corruption. Dr. Sudipta Roy, who is known to have close ties with Dr. Sandip Ghosh, is currently being questioned at his residence regarding the corruption case linked to RG Kar Medical College.

Dr. Sandip Ghosh is already under investigation for alleged financial mismanagement and irregularities that reportedly occurred during his tenure as principal. The ED’s probe began following a complaint filed by college authorities, which accused Ghosh of misappropriating funds intended for development and research projects at RG Kar Medical College.

Earlier this month, during related searches, the ED uncovered documents pertaining to at least seven properties linked to Dr. Sandip Ghosh, suggesting a complex web of financial irregularities. Sources indicate that the ED is considering the attachment of these properties as part of its investigation, pending further verification.

The raids and ongoing investigations highlight the escalating scrutiny faced by individuals associated with RG Kar Medical College, reflecting the broader context of legal and administrative actions being taken in response to serious allegations of corruption and financial misconduct.
