United States President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning against individuals involved in acts of vandalism against Tesla vehicles and properties. He stated that those caught sabotaging Teslas could face up to 20 years in prison. This stern message comes amid a surge in attacks on Tesla cars, charging stations, and showrooms in the U.S. and abroad.
Trump made the statement on Truth Social, a platform operated by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG). In his post, he emphasized that perpetrators, including those funding such activities, would be held accountable. “People that get caught sabotaging Teslas will stand a very good chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes the funders. We are looking for you!!!” he wrote.
Rising incidents of Tesla vandalism
The recent wave of attacks on Tesla properties has raised concerns among authorities and industry experts. While no injuries have been reported, numerous incidents of vandalism have targeted Tesla showrooms, parking lots, charging stations, and privately owned vehicles. Several high-profile attacks have been recorded in cities such as Portland, Seattle, and Las Vegas.
Sociologist Randy Blazak noted that Tesla has become a visible target for protests and acts of sabotage. “Tesla is an easy target,” he said. “They are present on our streets, and their dealerships are in our neighborhoods.” The increase in vandalism coincides with Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s growing political involvement and influence, particularly in budget-cutting initiatives under Trump’s administration.
Law enforcement crackdown
Authorities have taken swift action in response to these incidents. In Colorado, a woman is facing charges for allegedly using Molotov cocktails to attack Tesla dealerships. Similarly, in South Carolina, a man was arrested for setting fire to Tesla charging stations. Reports suggest that some of the suspects have anti-government sentiments and are opposed to Musk’s policies.
In Oregon, a suspect was charged with attacking a Tesla store using Molotov cocktails and gunfire. In Seattle, multiple Cybertrucks were torched, and a Tesla Model S was deliberately set on fire. In Las Vegas, several Teslas were burned, with the word “resist” spray-painted on a Tesla service center. Investigators believe that a combination of arson and firearms were used in these attacks.
Growing political and social divide
As Tesla remains at the center of political and ideological debates, it continues to be a focal point for protests and attacks. While peaceful demonstrations against Musk’s business practices and political stance have taken place, the recent escalation in violence has prompted a stronger law enforcement response.
With Trump’s latest warning, officials expect increased efforts to deter further attacks and prosecute those responsible. As investigations continue, Tesla’s security measures are also under review to prevent future incidents.
