The box office performance of Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi starrer ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ experienced a notable decline on April 22, as the film struggled to surpass the Rs 5 crore mark in India.
Despite garnering widespread acclaim for its content, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ faced challenges in translating positive reviews into box office success. After completing four days in theaters, the romantic comedy failed to meet expectations, earning its lowest collection yet on Monday.
Released worldwide on April 19, 2024, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ encountered competition from Ektaa Kapoor’s ‘LSD 2’ at the box office. However, despite initial anticipation, the film’s commercial performance fell short of projections.
According to initial trade reports, the net earnings of ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ amounted to just over Rs 2.5 crore in India over the four-day period. On Day 3, the film grossed over Rs 1 crore worldwide, but Day 4 saw a significant decline, with earnings of approximately Rs 25 lakh net in India.
With a four-day total collection of Rs 2.6 crore net at the domestic box office, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ recorded an overall occupancy of 9.20 per cent in India on April 22. The film saw the highest occupancy during night shows, reaching 11.99 per cent.
Directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ features Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy in lead roles. The screenplay is jointly written by Suprotim Sengupta, Amrita Bagchi, and Eisha Chopra.
Notably, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ marks Ileana’s return to the screen after embracing motherhood, while Sendhil Ramamurthy’s last Hindi film appearance was in Raj and DK’s acclaimed ‘Shor in the City’ in 2022.
