Gautam Buddh Nagar, May 6, 2026:
In an effort to ensure maximum public participation and wider awareness regarding the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled for May 9, 2026, District Judge Atul Srivastava flagged off a publicity vehicle in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The initiative has been launched in compliance with the directions issued by the National Legal Services Authority and the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
The awareness vehicle has been deployed to spread information about the National Lok Adalat across rural and remote areas of the district. Officials stated that the campaign aims to educate citizens about the importance, benefits, and procedures of Lok Adalat proceedings so that a larger number of eligible cases can be resolved through mutual settlement.
The National Lok Adalat, which will be organised on May 9 at district headquarters courts as well as tehsil-level courts, is intended to provide speedy, affordable, and accessible justice to citizens. Through this platform, disputes can be settled amicably without lengthy legal proceedings, helping reduce the burden on courts and ensuring faster resolution for litigants.
Authorities explained that the awareness vehicle will travel through different parts of the district, particularly rural and semi-urban areas, informing residents about the categories of cases that can be resolved during the Lok Adalat. These include civil disputes, family matters, bank recovery cases, motor accident claims, compoundable criminal cases, land-related disputes, labour-related matters, and pre-litigation settlements.

Officials emphasized that many people living in remote areas are often unaware of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as Lok Adalat. The awareness campaign has therefore been launched to ensure that citizens understand how they can benefit from the system and settle disputes through mutual agreement in a time-bound and cost-effective manner.
During the flag-off ceremony, judicial officers highlighted the importance of public awareness in ensuring the success of the National Lok Adalat. They stated that greater awareness would encourage more litigants to participate voluntarily and seek amicable settlement of disputes.
Several senior judicial officers and officials were present during the programme, including Additional District Judge-I Sunil Kumar, Additional District Judge-II and Special Judge (SC/ST Act) Somprabha Mishra, who is also serving as Nodal Officer for the National Lok Adalat, Additional District Judge and Special Judge (POCSO) Kumar Gaurav, Additional District Judge-IV Mayur Jain, Additional District Judge-V Ashish Kumar Chaurasia, Civil Judge (Senior Division) Babita Pathak, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-I Mayank Tripathi, and Shivani Rawat, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Officials expressed confidence that the awareness drive would help increase participation in the upcoming National Lok Adalat and contribute to the speedy settlement of a large number of cases across the district.
The initiative reflects the judiciary’s continued focus on strengthening alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and ensuring that justice remains accessible, affordable, and efficient for all sections of society.
