In a statement from Patna, Bihar, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh asserted the strength of the INDIA bloc, highlighting the significant participation of youth, Dalits, and farmers in opposing the BJP. Singh emphasized the bloc’s presence, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where the Congress and Samajwadi Party are jointly contesting seats. Singh also responded to Home Minister Amit Shah’s claims of electoral success, questioning whether they were factual or merely rhetoric. He dismissed allegations of “appeasement politics” and emphasized the clarity of Congress’s election manifesto. Digvijaya Singh, contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections after three decades, sees this as his “last election,” facing BJP’s Rodmal Nagar in his home turf of Rajgarh. Madhya Pradesh’s elections spanned four phases, with 29 constituencies in play, showcasing the intense battle between the ruling BJP and the opposition INDIA bloc. Voting for the fifth phase across multiple states and Union Territories is underway, marking a crucial juncture in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, with the counting slated for June 4.
