Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a 24/7 water supply initiative in Rajendra Nagar, signaling a major step towards fulfilling one of his party’s key promises. Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the service on Tuesday by drinking tap water from a local colony, benefiting 500 households in the area. Accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena and Aam Aadmi Party Member of Legislative Assembly Durgesh Pathak, Arvind Kejriwal pledged to extend the service across Delhi soon, reiterating his commitment to delivering on promises.
Arvind Kejriwal emphasized the reliability of his governance, stating, “Kejriwal does what he says. I do not make false promises or hollow statements.” The launch is part of a broader strategy by the Aam Aadmi Party to attract voters with impactful public welfare initiatives. In recent weeks, the party has announced programs like guarantees for auto drivers, scholarships for students, the Chief Minister Women’s Honor Scheme, and the Sanjeevani Scheme for senior citizens.
On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party initiated registration for two major schemes aimed at women and the elderly. The Chief Minister Women’s Honor Scheme offers financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month, with plans to increase it to ₹2,100 if the party retains power. The Sanjeevani Scheme promises free healthcare for senior citizens above the age of 60. Registration began in East Kidwai Nagar, where Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi Marlena engaged with residents, assisting them in generating OTPs and distributing registration cards under the “Kejriwal Kavach” program.
During the launch, some women faced issues registering due to their names being missing from the voter list. Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was responsible for removing their names from the electoral rolls and assured them that his party would help reinstate them. He also urged residents to verify their names in the voter list to avoid disenfranchisement.
The Aam Aadmi Party estimates that approximately 40 lakh women and 25 lakh senior citizens in Delhi could benefit from these schemes. Arvind Kejriwal revealed that within hours of the registration launch, over 2.5 lakh women had signed up for the Chief Minister Women’s Honor Scheme. He assured the public that Aam Aadmi Party volunteers would visit households to complete the registration process, ensuring accessibility.
As Arvind Kejriwal contests from the New Delhi constituency for the fourth time, his announcements and initiatives highlight the Aam Aadmi Party’s focus on welfare-driven politics, aimed at addressing the needs of Delhi’s residents and strengthening its electoral appeal.
