Fremantle [Australia], November 10 (ANI): The Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini, part of the historic Navika Sagar Parikrama II expedition, has arrived at Fremantle in Australia after completing a challenging 39-day non-stop voyage from Goa.

Flagged off on October 2, 2024, by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff, from Goa, the expedition is a part of the Indian Navy’s continued efforts to promote gender equality and global maritime cooperation. During the 4900 nautical mile journey, the vessel crossed significant geographical milestones including the Equator and the Tropic of Capricorn.

The crew, comprising Lt Cdr Dilna K and Lt Cdr Roopa A, faced extreme weather conditions, with winds reaching 40 knots and sea states of up to 6. Despite these challenges, the crew maintained high spirits and remained in good health throughout the voyage.

The arrival of INSV Tarini at approximately 14:30h IST (1700 local time) on November 9 was marked with a warm welcome by Indian and Australian dignitaries, including the Consul General of India at Perth, the Defence Advisor from Canberra, and representatives from the Royal Australian Navy.

The reception also featured a cultural performance by the Tamil Association of Western Australia, adding a unique touch to the occasion.

The expedition also underscores India’s commitment to fostering stronger relationships with international maritime communities and serves as an ambassador of India’s rich maritime heritage.

The expedition, which will make stops at four major international ports, continues to highlight India’s commitment to sustainable global engagement and showcases the resilience and determination of the Navy’s female sailors. (ANI)
