In a significant step towards enhancing commuter convenience, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) have introduced an integrated QR-ticketing system. The new initiative enables passengers to book tickets for both the Delhi Metro and the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) through their respective mobile applications, marking a major advancement in inter-modal transport connectivity.
Commuters can now access Delhi Metro QR code tickets via the RRTS Connect app and Namo Bharat QR code tickets through the DMRC Momentum 2.0 app. This integration simplifies the ticketing process and offers a seamless travel experience across the extensive 393-kilometer DMRC metro network and the operational 42-kilometer RRTS corridor. The initiative was officially launched by NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel and DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar.
The integrated system consolidates metro and RRTS travel options on a single digital platform, eliminating the need for multiple tickets and enhancing operational efficiency. This move aligns with the government’s One India-One Ticket initiative, aimed at simplifying inter-modal travel and creating a unified transport network. By reducing queues at ticket counters and encouraging digital transactions, the system supports environmentally friendly and sustainable travel practices.
The initiative also builds on NCRTC’s earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Under this MoU, passengers will soon be able to book Namo Bharat train tickets alongside Indian railway train tickets on the IRCTC platform. This development further integrates various modes of transport, fostering a unified travel ecosystem.
The newly launched system aligns with the Prime Minister’s National Gati Shakti Master Plan, which emphasizes integrated infrastructure and seamless connectivity between different transport modes. By linking RRTS and DMRC networks, the system not only eases congestion but also contributes to a cleaner, greener future for the National Capital Region (NCR).
This milestone in public transport integration reflects a broader push towards smart urban mobility solutions. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance commuter satisfaction by providing a hassle-free travel experience and furthering the adoption of digital ticketing systems. With this integration, Delhi Metro and NCRTC reaffirm their commitment to creating a more connected and efficient urban transport system, setting a benchmark for similar initiatives across the country.
