A 31-year-old man was fatally stabbed by his neighbor in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri area following a dispute over alleged electricity theft, the police reported on Friday. The incident unfolded on Wednesday when a confrontation erupted between two families. The conflict began when Surender, a 51-year-old resident, accused his neighbors—Mahesh, aged 60, and his sons Vikas and Abhay, aged 33—of illegally using electricity from a nearby temple to charge their electric scooter.
The argument intensified, leading to physical altercations. During the scuffle, a member of Surender’s family retrieved a knife from their house and, in a fit of rage, attacked Vikas. Vikas sustained a severe stab wound to the lower chest. He was initially taken to LBS Hospital but was later transferred to Safdarjung Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Mahesh and Abhay received minor injuries in the altercation.
The police have arrested Surender, his wife Charanjeet Kaur, and their children Prem, aged 18, and a minor. An FIR has been filed against them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of murder, attempt to murder, and causing hurt with dangerous weapons.
