New Delhi, January 13, 2026
The Delhi Government is set to inaugurate 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs under the fifth phase of expansion, significantly strengthening neighbourhood-level primary healthcare services across the capital. With this addition, the total number of operational Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi will rise to 319, marking a major step in providing free, accessible, and dignified healthcare to citizens at their doorstep.
Currently, 238 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are functional across the city. The addition of 81 new centres aligns with the government’s long-term plan to establish over 1,100 such centres in Delhi. The initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in line with the national vision of ‘Healthcare for All.’
Each centre will offer free doctor consultations, essential medicines, and diagnostic tests. Services will also include screenings for diabetes, hypertension, and cancer, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation support, growth monitoring, lifestyle counselling, mental health services, and preventive healthcare programmes such as yoga and nutrition guidance. These local centres are expected to ease pressure on major hospitals and ensure timely care for women, senior citizens, and economically vulnerable families without long travel or queues.
Alongside the expansion of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, the Delhi Government is continuously strengthening coverage under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat – Vaya Vandana Yojana (VVY). As of January 13, 2026, a total of 6,91,530 health cards have been issued in Delhi, including 2,65,895 under VVY, which primarily benefit senior citizens.
To ensure seamless access to secondary and tertiary care, Delhi now has 189 empanelled hospitals under the Ayushman scheme, including 138 private hospitals, 41 Delhi Government hospitals, and 10 Central Government hospitals. These institutions provide cashless treatment, allowing financially vulnerable families to receive lifesaving care without any cost barriers.
Under the supervision of the State Health Agency Delhi, claims worth ₹36.31 crore have been settled so far under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, providing substantial financial protection and reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses for thousands of families.
Addressing the development, Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are transforming the delivery of primary healthcare in Delhi. These centres ensure that consultations, medicines, and diagnostic services are fully free and available within walking distance. This initiative is not just about treating illnesses; it is about providing every family with a reliable and accessible healthcare system close to home. With 319 centres now operational, nearly every neighbourhood in Delhi is connected to quality primary healthcare services.”
The Delhi Government emphasised that the expansion of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, combined with strengthened health coverage under PM-JAY and VVY and a growing network of empanelled hospitals, is part of a broader mission to build a modern, sustainable, and preventive healthcare ecosystem. The ultimate goal is to ensure that every citizen of Delhi has access to affordable, dignified, and high-quality healthcare as a guaranteed right. Plans are also underway to further expand the number and scope of services of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to enhance healthcare access and quality across the capital.
