Speaking to the media, CM Kejriwal expressed his condolences over the loss of life and assured that the Delhi Government would launch an investigation into allegations of delayed response by the Fire Brigade. He emphasized that those found responsible would face consequences.
“A fire broke out at a paint factory in Alipur last night, causing great sorrow as it spread through the lanes and homes. Eleven people have lost their lives, and four others have been reported injured. In addition to the ex-gratia payment, CM Kejriwal announced compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for those with serious injuries and Rs. 20,000 for those with minor injuries. He assured that after assessing the damage to shops and houses, compensation would also be provided to those affected.
The fire, which occurred on February 15 in a paint godown in Nehru Enclave near Dayal Market, resulted in a total of 11 fatalities and four injuries. While the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, the police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the owner of the factory.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva visited the affected site and pledged assistance to the injured individuals. He criticized the Delhi Government and CM Arvind Kejriwal, holding them responsible for the incident and accusing them of corruption when addressing ground realities.
“BJP will provide assistance to the injured people and will provide immediate assistance of Rs. 50,000 to the family members of the deceased. Delhi Government and CM Arvind Kejriwal should take full responsibility for this incident. They are only doing corruption when it comes to ground reality,” he said.
