Sagar, 22 August (HS): Even before the announcement of the dates for the assembly elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh by the end of this year, the political chessboard has started laying. Both the major parties in the state, the BJP and the Congress, are making full efforts to help the Dalit vote bank in Bundelkhand. On August 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge public meeting after performing the Bhoomi Pujan of Sant Ravidas Temple in Sagar. Now Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge is also coming to Sagar. He will address a big public meeting here today (Tuesday). State Congress President Kamal Nath will also be present in the programme.
State Congress vice president and organisation in-charge Rajeev Singh said that Abha Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge and State Congress Kamal Nath will reach Bhopal’s Rajabhoj airport at 10.45 a.m. From here, at 11 oclock, both leaders will leave for Sagar by helicopter and will reach Kajlivan Maidan at noon and address a big public meeting. After this, both leaders will leave Sagar at 1.30 am and reach Bhopal at 2.15 pm.
In fact, before the assembly elections, the focus of all political parties was on helping the voters of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. There are 35 seats in the Scheduled Caste category in the state. At the same time, voters in this class have a direct influence on about 20 seats. Saint Ravidas had come to Karrapur from Sagar 600 years ago. An ashram has been built at that place. There are a large number of followers of Saint Ravidas here. From here, the political parties are working for the Dalit class of the entire state.
