On July 19, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the wreath-laying ceremony for Special Task Force (STF) jawan Bharat Lal Sahu, who was killed in a Naxal attack in the Tarrem area of Bijapur district on July 17. The Chief Minister paid tribute to the fallen jawan and expressed the state’s commitment to eradicating naxalism. The attack also claimed the life of another jawan and injured four others.

  • Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the state’s determination to end naxalism in Chhattisgarh.
  • The attack occurred during a joint operation involving STF, DRG, CoBRA, and CRPF teams from Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts.
  • The deceased jawans were identified as Constable Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur.
  • The injured jawans are now out of danger and receiving treatment.
  • Additional security forces have been deployed to the area to ensure safety and support ongoing operations.
  • On July 17, security forces also conducted a major anti-Naxal operation at Wandoli village on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, resulting in the deaths of 12 Naxals and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms.
