The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated Ashish Pandey, a youth leader from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a house staff member at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, regarding the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor. The questioning took place at the CBI’s CGO Complex office on Thursday, lasting several hours before Pandey departed late in the night.
According to CBI officials, Pandey’s phone number appeared in the call logs of several individuals connected to the case. Notably, he had checked into a hotel in Salt Lake City with a female companion on August 9, the same day the trainee doctor’s body was discovered at the hospital. Investigators are attempting to piece together his whereabouts and activities on that crucial day.
The CBI is also pursuing information from the hotel authorities concerning Pandey’s booking and payment details. Reports indicate that the hotel room was reserved through an app, with Pandey checking in on the afternoon of August 9 and leaving the following morning. CBI officials are keen to uncover the reasons behind his stay at the hotel.
The tragic death of the trainee doctor has sparked nationwide outrage, drawing attention to the safety and security of medical professionals in the country. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to clarify the circumstances surrounding her death and any potential involvement by individuals connected to the case.
