The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has concluded a second round of polygraph tests on Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH), as part of its ongoing investigation into the rape-murder of a trainee doctor at the institution. The polygraph tests were carried out by a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).
This latest development follows the CBI’s earlier polygraph testing of Sanjay Roy, who has been arrested in connection with the case. The CBI is scrutinizing Roy’s involvement in the brutal crime, which has sparked significant public outcry and demands for justice.
In addition to the polygraph tests, the anti-corruption branch of the CBI conducted raids on August 25 at various locations related to Dr. Ghosh and his family in Kolkata, West Bengal. These searches are part of a broader investigation into alleged corruption and administrative lapses at RGKMCH.
On August 24, the CBI registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Dr. Ghosh, following orders from the Calcutta High Court. The High Court had previously instructed the CBI to investigate claims of corruption linked to the medical college, leading to heightened scrutiny of the institution and its management.
The court has granted the CBI three weeks to submit a progress report on the investigation, which is due on September 17. This report will outline the findings of the ongoing probe and any further actions that may be required.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court intervened to ensure the security of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The court directed that security measures be transferred to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in response to concerns about the safety of the institution following the incident.
The rape-murder of the trainee doctor, whose body was discovered in the seminar hall of RGKMCH on August 9, has garnered national attention. The case has highlighted serious issues within the medical college and has led to widespread calls for reform and accountability.
As the investigation continues, the CBI remains focused on uncovering the truth behind the heinous crime and addressing the systemic issues that may have contributed to it. The public and the victim’s family are eagerly awaiting justice as the authorities work to resolve the case and bring those responsible to account.
