The CBI has filed a closure report in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, reaffirming it as a suicide. Following this, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, reiterated that she had no role in the actor’s death. He highlighted that multiple investigations, including Mumbai Police’s initial probe, had already cleared her. Despite this, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family accused her of financial misconduct, leading to a prolonged legal battle. Maneshinde maintained that Rhea had no contact with Sushant Singh Rajput after June 8, 2020, and called the case a “pure suicide.” The CBI’s report, submitted nearly five years later, marks the final word in the high-profile investigation.
Maneshinde stated that from the very beginning, he had maintained that Rhea had no role in the tragic incident. However, on July 27, 2020, a complaint was filed against her, leading to a prolonged investigation. He emphasized that the Maharashtra Police had initially treated the case as a suicide and had already cleared Rhea of any wrongdoing before the case was transferred to the CBI.
Detailing the timeline of events, Maneshinde explained that Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14, 2020, and at that time, the Mumbai Police’s Bandra Zone DCP conducted a thorough investigation. The police recorded Rhea Chakraborty’s statement and found no evidence linking her to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Despite this, allegations surfaced against her, leading to a legal battle that spanned nearly five years.
Maneshinde also addressed Rhea’s departure from Sushant Singh Rajput’s residence on June 8, 2020. He claimed that their relationship had become strained due to conflicts related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s drug use and medication habits. Following a dispute, Sushant reportedly asked Rhea’s brother to take her away from his home, after which there was no contact between them.
Despite these facts, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family accused Rhea of financial misconduct, alleging that she misappropriated Rs 15 crore from his accounts. This accusation led to a case being registered in Patna and ultimately resulted in the Supreme Court transferring the investigation to the CBI. Over the next four and a half years, the agency interrogated Rhea and her family multiple times before filing the closure report, confirming that the actor’s death was a case of suicide.
Meanwhile, the CBI’s official report was submitted to a Mumbai court, nearly five years after the actor’s demise. Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020, leading to widespread speculation and media trials. His postmortem report, conducted at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxia.
With the CBI’s closure report now filed, the case that captivated the nation appears to have reached its legal conclusion, reinforcing the findings that it was a case of suicide and not foul play.
