Calcutta High Court judge announces continued affiliation with RSS says ‘was and is still an RSS member’ | CliqExplainer

In a revelation during his retirement speech, Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash of the Calcutta High Court disclosed his longstanding affiliation with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that the organization played a significant role in shaping his character and fostering patriotism.

Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash, who retired on Monday, affirmed his association with the RSS since childhood, highlighting its influence in instilling courage, integrity, and a sense of national duty within him.

While acknowledging his RSS membership, Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash assured that his judicial decisions remained impartial, distancing himself from any organizational influence throughout his tenure as a judge.

Having served in various capacities within the judiciary, Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash emphasized his commitment to fairness and equality in dispensing justice, regardless of political affiliations.

Originally from Odisha, Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash began his legal career in 1986 as an advocate before joining the Odisha judicial service in 1999. He later served as an Additional District and Sessions Judge before assuming roles within the Orissa High Court.

Elevated to the position of additional judge in the Orissa High Court in 2009, Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash was subsequently transferred to the Calcutta High Court in 2022, where he concluded his distinguished career.
