Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 5 (ANI): After attending the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting chaired by Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Raebareli Aditi Singh said that it was a very positive meeting.

“It was a very positive meeting. There were a few issues on which we had a little differences. This is an administrative meeting, held under the chairmanship of MP…So, most of the discussions were on the issue of development…” said BJP MLA Aditi Singh.

Notably, DISHA committee meetings are held on a quarterly basis, under the chairmanship of the MP.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi inaugurated the newly-built Shaheed Chowk and Degree College Chauraha in Raebareli. He also visited and offered prayers at Shri Peepaleshwar Mahadevji Mandir and Hanuman Mandir in the city.

Gandhi, currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Raebareli, is on a one-day visit to the district. During his visit, he will also inaugurate roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Notably, Gandhi won the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections by a significant margin of 390,030 votes.

Rahul Gandhi is also visiting Hyderabad where he is meeting with intellectuals and stakeholders regarding the caste survey initiated by the state government.

Giving details about the caste survey Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that it is being conducted for the first time in Telangana.

“Rahul Gandhi will reach Hyderabad to hold a meeting with intellectuals, stakeholders on caste survey initiated by the state government…A caste survey is being conducted for the first time in Telangana…Each enumerator has been given 150 houses to survey and accordingly, the decision will be taken for their benefit,” Telangana Minister Prabhakar said on Monday.

In October, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that a detailed Caste survey would be conducted in Telangana between 6 November to 30 November.”A detailed Caste Survey is going to be conducted in Telangana between November 6 to November 30. We promised this during elections and now we are fulfilling it,” Telangana Minister Prabhakar said.

Congress has repeatedly demanded that a caste census be conducted in the country, terming it a “progressive and significant step.” (ANI)
