The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the formation of 43 committees to oversee various aspects of its campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February. The committees aim to address specific voter segments and support the party’s election efforts across a range of areas including women, youth, Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and those benefitting from central government schemes. These committees have been established to streamline the party’s election-related activities and ensure efficient management of the electoral process.
The announcement, made on Thursday, follows a directive from BJP’s Delhi state president, Virendra Sachdeva, who outlined the need for a structured approach to handle the complex logistics and campaigning ahead of the February elections for the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly. Each committee will focus on different facets of the election process, ranging from media outreach to grassroots contact with voters. These committees have been tasked with duties such as nomination processing, handling media relations, designing the campaign narrative, managing social media presence, documentation, data management, special contacts, and logistics, among others.
One of the key committees is the four-member media committee, which will be led by Praveen Shankar Kapoor as convenor. Kapoor, an experienced party leader, will work alongside other members to handle the party’s communication strategies, ensuring media engagement and shaping public perception. Additionally, the media relations committee, led by Vikram Mittal, will be responsible for managing relationships with journalists and other media personnel to foster a favorable image of the party during the election period.
The BJP has also appointed prominent leaders for narrative-setting and strategy formation. New Delhi Member of Parliament (MP) Bansuri Swaraj will convene the narrative-setting committee, with Pradeep Bhandari, Kapil Mishra, and Rajiv Babbar joining as members. This committee will play a crucial role in crafting the message and tone of the party’s election campaign, aiming to appeal to various voter groups and resonate with the public’s concerns.
These developments mark a significant step in BJP’s preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections, as it works to consolidate support from key demographics and create an organized, efficient election strategy. The party’s efforts reflect its focus on detailed planning and coordination, ensuring that its campaign reaches all corners of the city in time for the elections.
