Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla have expressed deep condolences following the death of Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, who passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday night. Hailed as a towering figure in Indian industry, Ratan Tata’s legacy has left an indelible mark on India’s growth and development, both in business and in his philanthropic efforts.

In a heartfelt message, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar described Ratan Tata as an iconic industrialist whose contributions to building a self-reliant India will continue to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs. “As ‘the legend’ of Indian industry leaves behind a lasting legacy, Bharat would miss him very dearly,” the Vice President’s secretariat wrote on X (formerly Twitter), quoting Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute, saying that the nation has lost a great industrialist and social worker. Om Birla noted that Ratan Tata not only led Indian industry to new heights but also touched every section of society through his selfless service and philanthropy. “The simplicity, vision, and service spirit of Ratan Tata will remain a source of inspiration for ages. His demise is an irreparable loss to the country,” Om Birla posted on X.

Several other political figures joined in mourning the industrialist’s passing. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal referred to Ratan Tata as “anmol” (precious), highlighting the lasting value of his contributions to the nation. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also shared his grief, noting that with Ratan Tata’s death, an era of visionary leadership had come to an end.

“He has left behind an irreplaceable void,” Kiren Rijiju wrote on X. “His remarkable contributions have not only transformed industries but also elevated India onto the global pedestal of innovation and excellence.”

Ratan Tata, whose leadership of Tata Sons made the group one of India’s largest and most respected conglomerates, is remembered not only for his business acumen but also for his immense contributions to society. Through various charitable efforts, including his leadership of the Tata Trusts, Ratan Tata directed billions toward education, healthcare, and rural development in India.

His legacy continues to inspire generations of business leaders and philanthropists, leaving behind a foundation of ethical leadership and social responsibility that transcends industries. Ratan Tata’s death marks the end of an era, but his contributions to both India’s industrial landscape and its societal progress will endure for years to come.
