Shocking details have emerged in the case of Bangladeshi MP Anwarul Azim Anar, who was allegedly murdered in Kolkata. According to officials from the West Bengal CID, MP Anwarul Azim Anar was smothered with a pillow soon after entering a flat in New Town.
Mohammad Siyam Hussain, the accused arrested in Nepal, confessed during interrogation that he, along with assistance from a woman, strangled the politician. After the murder, they dismembered Anwarul Azim Anar’s body, placing the parts in plastic bags, and subsequently dumped them in various locations across New Town and Bagjola canal area. Some body parts were also disposed of near the Bangaon border with Bangladesh using a trolley suitcase.
The grim incident came to light after Gopal Biswas, an acquaintance of Anwarul Azim Anar, reported him missing on May 18. Anwarul Azim Anar had arrived in Kolkata on May 12 and stayed at Gopal Biswas’ residence in Baranagar. He was last seen leaving for a doctor’s appointment on May 13 but never returned.
On June 9, the CID recovered human bones near a canal in South 24 Parganas district, prompting further investigations. Mohammad Siyam Hussain’s arrest in Nepal and subsequent extradition to India facilitated crucial leads in the case. The CID has also questioned individuals involved in handling the body, including a butcher.
Initial findings suggest that Anwarul Azim Anar’s close associate, Akhtaruzzaman, allegedly paid approximately Rs 5 crore to those responsible for the crime. Akhtaruzzaman, who owns a flat in Kolkata, is believed to be in the US presently.
The investigation into the brutal murder continues as authorities work to piece together the sequence of events leading to Anwarul Azim Anar’s tragic demise in Kolkata.
