The film “Bad Newz,” released on July 19, continues to attract audiences in theatres, despite a slight decline in earnings on its sixth day. The Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk-starring movie earned an estimated Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday, July 24, bringing its total box office collection to Rs 40.20 crore. The film saw an overall occupancy rate of 12.36 percent in the Hindi market, with the highest footfall during the night shows.
“Bad Newz” has also shown strong international performance, with notable success in the Gulf region and North America. According to a Forbes report, the film earned 6.4 million dollars worldwide within its first three days. This performance marks a significant achievement for lead actor Vicky Kaushal, as the film became his highest-grossing opener with Rs 8.62 crore and delivered his second-best weekend collection of Rs 30.62 crore, following “Uri: The Surgical Strike.”
Despite its commercial success, “Bad Newz” has received mixed reviews from critics. The film’s narrative revolves around a woman who discovers her twins have two biological fathers, a condition known as ‘Heteropaternal Superfecundation.’ The storyline delves into themes of confusion, drama, and romance.
Critics have not been particularly impressed with the film. Tushar Joshi rated it 2 stars, describing it as a glossy yet shallow experience with lackluster writing and ineffective humor. The film, written by Ishita Moitra and Tarun Dudeja, is co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
As “Bad Newz” progresses through its opening week, it is poised to become one of Vicky Kaushal’s most successful first-week earners, surpassing the earnings of his last release, “Sam Bahadur,” which accumulated Rs 36.75 crore during its first week.
