The autopsy report for two teenage girls found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district has confirmed that both died due to asphyxiation. The two girls, aged 18 and 15, were discovered hanging from the same dupatta on a tree in a mango orchard, leading to immediate suspicions about the cause of their deaths. According to the police, the initial findings suggest a case of double suicide, with no injury marks found on the bodies. However, the police have initiated an investigation to determine what might have led the girls to take such a drastic step.

Despite the postmortem report pointing towards suicide, the families of the victims, who belong to the Scheduled Caste community, have alleged foul play, claiming the case to be one of murder. The families are not convinced by the findings and demand a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the deaths. The father of one of the girls expressed his disbelief and anguish, stating that the two were close friends who had gone out to attend a Janmashtami program on the night they died. “When they did not return, we assumed my daughter had stayed at her aunt’s house. The next morning, we were informed that both girls were found hanging. We believe they have been murdered,” he told India Today TV.

Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi provided details of the scene, explaining that the girls’ necks were tied with the same dupatta, which had been thrown over a branch of the tree. The orchard where the bodies were found is located about 150 meters from the venue of the Janmashtami program, which the girls had attended with their families. Alongside the bodies, the police found the mobile phone of one of the girl’s cousins and a SIM card in the clothing of one of the victims. The cousin had reportedly attended the Janmashtami program with the families of the two girls, and these items have been sent for further forensic analysis.

The autopsy report rules out external injuries, suggesting suicide, the police have not ruled out the possibility of foul play. The case has sparked concerns and demands for justice, with many urging the authorities to conduct a fair and transparent investigation. The incident has also highlighted the need for mental health awareness and support, especially among the youth, to prevent such tragedies in the future. The investigation continues, and authorities have assured the public that all angles will be thoroughly explored to uncover the truth.
