During an interaction with the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, Asaduddin Owaisi, a prominent leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and member of the all-party delegation against terrorism, raised strong concerns about Pakistan’s recent $2 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Asaduddin Owaisi warned that this financial assistance might be diverted by Pakistan to bolster its military and terror groups, urging international authorities to reconsider Pakistan’s status and bring it back onto the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. His remarks emphasized the need for stricter financial oversight on Pakistan to prevent misuse of international funds for destabilizing activities.
Pakistan’s Financial Monitoring and Terror Links
Asaduddin Owaisi stressed that Pakistan’s return to the FATF grey list would ensure greater scrutiny of its financial transactions, especially given its history of sponsoring terrorism through money laundering and hawala networks, particularly in the Middle East. Highlighting the critical role FATF plays, he said that listing Pakistan again would increase pressure on the country and limit its ability to channel funds towards terror outfits. The delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Baijayant Panda, is actively working to raise global awareness about Pakistan’s role in cross-border terrorism and its attempts to undermine India’s security.
Addressing Religious and Political Narratives
In a notable statement, Asaduddin Owaisi rejected Pakistan’s attempts to raise religious issues against India. He asserted that India’s Muslim population is not only larger but also more sincere in its commitment to the nation. This pointedly refutes Pakistan’s narrative of victimhood based on religion. Alongside Asaduddin Owaisi, the delegation includes MPs from multiple parties such as Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, Satnam Singh Sandhu, and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who condemned Pakistan for spreading misinformation globally. Baijayant Panda emphasized India’s firm stance against terrorism and called for Pakistan to end terror activities from its soil and stop spreading falsehoods.
The multi-party delegation continues to engage with key leaders across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, reinforcing India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and countering false narratives internationally.
